PACE Support: Restructuring and strengthening of the Kaduna Local Government Accountability Mechanism (KADLGAM) across all 23 Local Government Areas
Building on the work of a PACE predecessor programme, PERL, the programme, in collaboration with the LAFIYA Programme, supported the restructuring and strengthening of the Kaduna Local Government Accountability Mechanism (KADLGAM) across all 23 Local Government Areas. The programme’s intervention reconstituted and inaugurated 552 Technical Working Group (TWG) members, drawn from both state and non-state actors, to promote participatory governance, fiscal accountability, and reform sustainability. Through a series of trainings and co-creation sessions, each LGA developed an Action Plan aligned with Open Government Partnership (OGP) principles, linking community priorities with local budget processes. The process also supported the establishment of a permanent dialogue mechanism to institutionalise citizen engagement in local governance. It also introduced the Climate Change Champions (Government) and Climate Action Advocates (Citizens) within the TWGs to mainstream climate considerations in local decision-making.
