About Us

PACE is Shaping Governance Where Every Voice Counts

Our story is one of continuity, how long-term partnerships between Nigeria and the UK continue to evolve from aid to growth.

Our Story

PACE is the latest chapter in a long and evolving journey of governance reform in Nigeria, that spans over two decades of learning, partnership, and progress. A journey that has grown into a movement that is connecting governance, accountability, and climate resilience as foundations for sustainable growth.

Through successive programmes, supported by the UK’s Foreign,
Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and managed by DAI Global, this journey has helped shape how Nigerian governments plan, budget, and respond to citizens’ needs. It has also shown the power of local leadership, of reformers in ministries, civil society, and communities working together to make governance work better for people.

PACE carries this legacy forward by building on what works. With decades of experience behind it, the programme brings together the tools, relationships, and evidence that have proven effective, extending reach through mechanisms like the PACE Helpdesk, which connects non-focal states to shared learning and tailored support.

Approach
Our Approach

PACE uses a whole of society approach, recognising that Nigeria’s climate and governance issues are intertwined and need collective action.

Our approach strengthens the foundations of reform—people, institutions, resources, and performance, ensuring citizens have a voice, governments are responsive, and public resources are managed transparently to deliver real results. PACE translates this vision into action through:

Coalitions

Issue-based coalitions

that unite reformers to tackle priority governance and climate challenges.

Governance

Core governance interventions

that build trust, strengthen accountability, and integrate climate action into policies and budgets.

Evidence

Evidence and learning

that guide adaptive decision-making and inform advocacy.

Opportunities

A Strategic Opportunities Fund

that allows flexible responses to emerging political and reform opportunities.

Our Consortium Partners

PACE is implemented by a consortium organisations that bring together deep expertise in governance, climate action, inclusion, and accountability. Each partner plays a distinct role in ensuring that the programme delivers results.
